Reputation is one of the beautician’s highest assets. Your reputation and work environment are based on the actions and behaviors of yourself and who you work with. Honesty, integrity, professionalism and ethical behaviour creates a strong foundation for success.

Client Rights

Each client has legal and civil rights. Clients have the right to be treated with courtesy and respect in away that fully recognizes that the client’s individuality and respects the client’s dignity. They have the right not to be bullied, harassed or abused. They have the right to be given privacy and confidentiality. They have the right to give or refuse consent to any treatment or service and to be informed of the consequences of giving or refusing consent. Clients have the right for their personal health information within the meaning of the Personal Health Information Protection Act, 2004 kept confidential in accordance with the Act, and to have access to his or her records of personal health information.

Confidentiality

Confidentiality is the client’s right to privacy of personal information. This includes client forms and conversation. Respect and maintain the confidentiality of information gained as an beautician, including but not limited to personal information about clients, health files and records. Beautician’s who disclose confidential information inappropriately should discontinue their service.

Privacy

Every client has the right to privacy. Recognize an individual’s right to privacy and commit to maintaining accuracy, confidentiality and security of the personal information. You must not enter the client’s home, washroom or dressing room without knocking nor touching any of the client’s belongings without permission. Treat everyone with respect and dignity and protect their privacy.
